Streets of Willow Springs September 2003
After a Five month Absence, the GANG
is at it again! Streets of Willow saga continues as I try to improve my
MAd SkillZ on this track woooohooooooooooooooooooooo~~~
Since the last track day, I've solved my brake problem with Cool Willy Track brake pads that supposedly will hold up to High track temperatures as I repeated slow this 3500lb beast down from insane speeds. The pad worked wonderfully this time! Stopping the beast on every occasion without scaring me half to death. The brake pedal eventually sank a little to the floor probably due to air in the brake lines or air in the master brake cylinder so I'll be bleeding the brakes after track =)
I pulled consistent 1:42's according
to Sasha which means I'm actually slower than last time when Ellen recorded
my time (1:40 flat) but I'm sure that Sasha did his job because I was matching
my speed with Jenny in her WRX (1:42 by transponder) so a bit disappointed(Ellen....u
probably didn't time me right!)
I haven't broken the 1:40 mark yet
but now I just need to work on my skills as a driver. Hopefully by next
year I'll be in the 1:30 somethings as I think this car is capable of that
kind of speed. The car dived and swayed like my Maxima so I will be fixing
that problem..the weight transfer really worked my tyres too hard and my
tyres just gave way after awhile. My shocks also started fading so I was
getting more and more body sway...not good! Coilovers here i come!!
Just as a reference...here are some track times to compare with mine:
Bone Stock S2000: 1:38 Club Racer
Bone Stock BMW E46 M3: 1:38 Magazine
Test Driver
Bone Stock BMW E36 M3: 1:42 Magazine
Test Drive
Bone Stock Mitsubishi Lancer Evo8:
1:36 Magazine Test Driver
Supercharged 350Z with street tires:
1:2x JGTC Racer
BMW M3 with similar mods: 1:34 Weekend
Warrior
Looking at these times, All I can
say is that I SUCK!!!! oh well..I had LOADS of fun =)
I got to drive Willy's 97 Red M3
with krazy mods and MAY I add that I've never had a bigger smile....the
car was awesome...went exactly where I told it to and slides are easily
managed. I find myself pushing the car harder and harder to explore the
limits and even if I went over, the car is very forgiving and I can pull
it right back or execute a little power slide myself =) I love RWD cars...I
really do! For more pictures please visit www.runjunkie.com.
