Buttonwillow Race Park January 2001
After a year of absence I'm back at Buttonwillow Race Park on a freezing Winter day. This day was much better than the year before because it didn't rain this time out =)
This time around the entire digitalracer crew ran
with me in the intermediate class and we managed to have mega fun. This
was the first time I tried out my new 18"/Dunlop sp9000 setup in the dry
so I was anxious to find out what this puppy can do. My instructor for
the day was Mr.Ernie
Becker.
I had known Ernie awhile back when we first met
at Buttonwillow the previous year. He showed me the lines on this track
again and I was really whipping ass this time out. I didn't time myself
but I felt I was going much much faster compared to one year ago. One major
gripe was my tyre setup. I was running 235's all round and out of turn
3, I coudln't lay down any power. This hurt my setup for turn 4 quite a
bit so I decided to get bigger rear tyres after this. The turn in on the
235's were very crisp and sharp but I noticed as I was going faster, the
car was flexing a little bit at the front.
I decided to get a Motorsport X brace to help the chassis flex a little bit after this run. I also had just installed my ECIS intake and boy did it make a difference....I could really hear the engine with that big KN cone up the front. The revs definitely built up smoother and it was real fun listening to the I6 rev to redline everytime.
The passenger next to me in this pic is Ernie Becker. Gosh...my head looks BIGGGG in this pic...but then I am wearing a size XL helmet so ....hehehe. I really had fun this day even though I was going thru some emotioinal troubles. Speed is the best cure !!
